MATERIAL SEMANTICS

Through the addition of fruit pulp, the organic-based material not only is enhanced by an extraordinary aesthetic, but also by the scent of orange, lime or lemon. Completely biodegradable, the material complies with the standards of Dopper.

This new water bottle for the brand Dopper (NL) is conceived for festivals. There are different options depending on the composition of the three-part bottle: it can serve as lighting, functions as a festival cup or bottle, has a strip for slinging, and a quick-opening lid.

FESTIVAL LIGHTS

Where do you sleep on a festival? – in a tent. What's always missing in a tent? – A Light! ... because your phone will have died by then.

Plastic isn't just plastic
PROJECT GOALS

How and what do you communicate with the choice of your material? How do you show that plastic is not just plastics? With a focus on material semantics, we have developed a new bio-based and biodegradable material.

Final Approach

Final Approach

Based on the findings of a study on material semantics, I developed a PLA-based plastic with pieces of fruit pulp as a means of communication for the new Festival Dopper. The bottle's cup/bottle function allows it to be used both for the festival and for everyday life.
